December 2005:

On December 27th, 2005 Detective Sgt. George Cayer was promoted
to Lieutenant and Sgt. Daniel Garbarini assumed the responsiblities of
Detective Sergeant for the department. Congratulations to Lt. Cayer
and Sergeant Garbarini. In addition, Mark Cayer rejoined
the department after a year as a Private Investigator. Welcome Back!!

On December 23rd, 2005 Lt. Stacy Carter on the retirement of
Chief Timothy Bourassa took over command as Chief of Police
for the department. Congratulations Chief Carter

On December 16th, 2005 Rumford Patrolman Kim Scott Mills
graduated from the 9th Basic Law Enforcment Training Program
at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.
Congratulations "Scott" from all your fellow officers.

On December 9th, 2005 the Town of Rumford had a surprise retirement
party for retiring Chief of Police. The photo above is the new
Chief Stacy Carter presenting retiring Chief Timothy Bourassa
a plaque commerating his twenty-five years of service, including the last
eleven years as Chief for the Rumford Police Department.

On December 1st, 2005 Rumford Town Manager Stephen Eldridge
announced upon the retirement of Chief Timothy Bourassa
on December 23rd, 2005, Lt. Stacy Carter will become the next
Police Chief of the Rumford Police Department

November 2005:

4-5 New Cop Cards to hit the street in early 2006.
Ptl. Matthew Noyes, Ptl. K. Scott Mills, Ptl. Lawrence Winson
and a Reserve Officer card with the possiblity of additional card will be among the newer cards when released.

October 2005:

Chief Timothy Bourassa has announced
after 25 plus years of Service with the Rumford Police Department
that he has submitted his retirement papers effective
on December 23rd, 2005.

June 2005:

Ptl. K. Scott Mills begins his 18-Eighteen Weeks at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy
culminating on December 16th, 2005.

April 2005:

On April 8th at the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special
Conference in Wells, Maine, Ptl. Douglas Maifeld was chosen
to carry the torch for the Opening Ceremonies with a Special Olympics
athelete at the Maine Summer Olympic Games in Orono on June 10th, 2005.

The Rumford Police Department would like to congratulate Daniel Garbarini, who on
April 7th with the February 2005 promotion of Stacy Carter to Lieutenant
was promoted to Sergeant.

March 2005:

On March 30th after the 18th D.A.R.E. Culmination, Ptl. Douglas Maifeld
was honored by the Rumford Elks Club as its 2005 Citizen of the Year.
This recognition after being named volunteer of the year (2004-05) by the
Greater Rumford Community Center earlier in the month.
Congratulations to Officer Maifeld.

On March 24th Matthew Noyes joined the Rumford Police Department after having
worked for the Dixfield, ME Police Department. He joins, Kim Scott Mills,
who joined the department on January 31st, 2005. Welcome to our two newest officers.

February 2005:

The Rumford Police Department would like to congratulate Wayne Gallant, who retired February
4th, 2005 after 25 plus years of service with the department, the last 17 as Lieutenant.
We wish Wayne the best as he takes on a new job as Chief of Police with the
Wilton, ME Police Department. Congratulation to Stacy Carter for the Promotion to Lieutenant.
