On April 8th, 2005 at the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special
Olympics Conference in Wells, Maine, Ptl. Douglas Maifeld was chosen
to carry the torch for the Opening Ceremonies with a Special Olympics
athelete at the Maine Summer Olympic Games in Orono on June 10th, 2005.

Patrolman Douglas Maifeld along with Westbrook Detective Patrick Lally represented Special Olympics Maine in New York City for the Special Olympics New York Torch Run which paused for a tribute for those lost in the attacks of 09/11/01. To read more about it, Click Here.
